Bold and masterful
Our collaboration with the Russian Mountaineering Federation: support and assistance to the Russian Mountaineering Championship; training of mountain rescuers and instructors; Mountaineering Festival and award for the best ascent 2007 – K2 Russian Expedition Direct West Face. (This award was won by the team, projects we have been supporting for some years).

The Woman’s Mountaineering Cup will be held in Uzunkol (Western Caucasian) in July 2008. Red Fox designers created a new jacket made of WINDSTOPPER® fabric especially for participants of this competition. It was a very difficult task. Indeed the main motto of the Woman’s Mountaineering Cup was – “the woman has to be a woman in spite of everything, even in the mountains”.

Ambition
We invented, organized and held the new Festival in the most famous mountaineering region of Europe - on Mount Elbrus peak: the Red Fox Elbrus Race. The Festival was new and unique for the Russian sports scene. It included ski–mountaineering, show-shoe running and a high-speed race to Mount Elbrus Peak.

Wisdom and experience
The international Red Fox Adventure Race has an expedition format. It took place for the sixth time in the severe conditions of the Murmansk region, near Kandalaksha town. It is an amazing place, where the long gulf of the White Sea meets with mountains and mountain rivers. Due to the landscape, it was more interesting and challenging in the struggle to win, for many that struggle turned into the desire to simply finish!

Knowledge and support
Red Fox Challenge. In Russia, it is exceptionally difficult to find financial support for expeditions, projects and ascents. We sponsor by providing equipment, we help to bring competitors into the public eye and we acquaint sportsmen with the mass media. Since this year, the Association of World Sport grants was supplemented by a Red Fox contribution. Every year we will grant the most fantastic, adventurous and impossible projects. “Challenging the impossible!”

Other worlds
The interesting expedition to the North Pole started at the beginning of March. The participants rode on two amphibious-cars along the Arctic Ocean ice. The distance was about 7000 km. Two samples of amphibious-cars “Emelya” and “Emelyana” were constructed for that expedition. Two crews of 4 people drove the cars. The team consisted of famous Russian travelers and high-altitude climbers with great experience in long expeditions.

02.05.08 We’ve reached the northeast point of the archipelago Northern Land. We are on the Arctic Cape!!! The record of 1990 was repeated at 7:52 a.m.  We opened a bottle of champagne and celebrated. 3208 km – behind us. The Arctic Cape is a glacier with a 75 m dome which is 10 km in diameter. In front – an icy plain, solid hummocked ice. We’ve resolved not to go on. We think we have accomplished our goal – to discover possible routes and test cars in extreme conditions.

The Team’s success is the success of everyone
We sponsor outstanding sportsmen. They are well-known around the world. They are adored in Russia. Jana Chereshneva and Yulya Abramchuk. These girls have very different tempers and points of view. They are hard-working rock-climbers with high ratings and champion ambitions in bouldering, speed and hard routes. They won the World Cup, the Europe Cup, the Russian Championship as well as competitions in different parts of the world. They are our pride.

The winter passed. The high-level ice-climber, Master of Sports of International Level, Maria Tolokonina told about the last season: All our team competes in the most comfortable and attractive sport clothing of Red Fox. It can be used for training and everyday.  The pants are very durable, waterproof and don’t inhibit the movements. All our ice-climbing teams are delighted with Red Fox gear.

Rocks. They are for everyone
The Russian Climbing Federation is our partner. We have collaborated, helped and invented something new for each year. We hold a Climbing Festival not far from Saint Petersburg. The Climbing Week is held in Moscow. Our cooperation unifies the different cities.


2007 year

In February 2007 the Russian Mountaineering Federation (RMF) and Red Fox signed the permanent cooperation agreement. In accordance with the agreement Red Fox became the general RMF partner and gives support to some RMF business lines.
As the main sponsor, the Red Fox company provides the International Team with clothing. Some of the most important events were held under this agreement.

- The second Russian seminar of mountaineering judges in Rostov-on-Don
- The Interdepartmental military-tactical mountain training exercises of military personnel and unconventional units “Daryal-2007”
- The second Russian Interdepartmental conference “ The safety problems during sport training and active rest in the mountains”
- The first National grant “The best year’s ascent”. The solemn ceremony was held in November 2007. The winner - K2 Russian Expedition Direct West Face (sponsored by Red Fox) 

2008 year

- The second Russian training meeting of the mountaineering rescuers for the medal “Rescuer in the mountains”. The Caucasus, Cey
- The first and second Russian training meeting of mountain instructors of the Ministry of Defence in Caucasus
- The Central training school of mountaineering instructors took place in Bezengi in June
- The entry of the Russian Mountaineering Federation into FSA
- The training school of mountain instructors of the FSB Federal Frontier Service of Russia. The Caucasus, Cey
- The conference and the solemn ceremony of the Russian Mountaineering Federation. The final of the project Red Fox Challenge took place in December in Moscow. The winner of the Red Fox Challenge award - Sergey Bogomolov with his project “Ascent to 14 eightthousanders”.

The International Mountaineering Festival and XXVI Russian Mountaineering Championship:
This exceptional event took place in the Uzunkol region in the Caucasus. The International Mountaineering Festival. For the first time the Woman’s Mountaineering Cup, the Russian Mountaineering Championship and even the multisport race were held in the severe conditions of the Caucasus simultaneously! The legendry climber Anna Toreta took part in the Festival. The International Mountaineering Festival received more than 300 participants and guests and became the most exciting event of 2008 year!

The unprecedented K2 West Face (8611 m) ascent, accomplished by the Russian National Team, was held in summer 2007.

The Russian expedition to Pakistan has concluded with the pioneering ascent of K2’s 3000 m West Face.

The Russian National Team has climbed K2 – the most difficult, dangerous and tragic of Karakoram’s eightthousander’s. Climbed without supplemented bottled oxygen and sherpa support, in hard weather conditions. As a result, 11 climbers have reached the K2 peak over the new route.

At present this new way, carved by our Team, is the most complex among existing routes to K2’s summit.

K2’s Russian Expedition Direct West Face created a huge echo in both Russian and International mass media and amongst all climbers around the world.
Red Fox developed and produced high-quality equipment especially for this project.

The captain of the Russian National Team, Honored Master of Sports and Piolet d’Or winner, Nikolay Totmyanin (Saint Petersburg) has been a member of the Red Fox team since 2008. He is one of the strongest high-altitude climbers in Russia.

Nikolay Totmyanin has made about 200 ascents to summits of the Caucasus, Pamir, Tien Shan, the Swiss Alps, the Himalayas and the Karakoram Range.
The world-wide team ascents:
- 2003: Everest (8848 m), 2003 (without supplemented bottled oxygen), 2006: from the North across the North Col
- 2004: Jannu (7710 m) 2004, the pioneer ascent along North Face. The team was awarded with the Piolet d’Or prize
- 2007: K2 (8611 m) 2007, the pioneer ascent of K2 West Face (without supplemented bottled oxygen). The team was awarded with the Piolet d’Or Russia prize

Nikolay is well-known for rapid ascents of the highest level of complexity:

- Repeated  ascent to Lenin Peak (7134 m). Twice in 2001, including the solo climb from base camp (4200 m height) to the peak in 12 hours 46 minutes
- Repeated  ascent to Communism Peak (7495 m), including the climb from base camp to the peak and back in 28 hours
- Ascent to Khan-Tengri Peak (6995 m), including the solo climb (1997 year) from base camp to the peak and back in 14 hours 03 minutes
- Lhotse Main (8516 m), the pioneer ascent along South Face (6th B level of complexity), the climb up to 8350 m
